a little gift for my future children's dad.

inspired by martha stewart here,
{it was such a cute & simple idea.}
i tried my hand at handwritten packaging
for some of ry's favorite treaties for fathers day this year.
{he's going to someday be the absolute best dad!}
and so i showed my appreciation for all of his fine fatherly qualities by getting some of his favorite goodies that we don't often have around the house.
and here's what made the cut:

1. oreos
2. pistachios
3. lemonade
4. hot sauce
5. liquid smoke
6. tabasco sauce

now let the snacking and grilling begin!!

fathers day

{cute grandpa holding up the fathers day card we made him.}

because our families both live so very far away,
we usually don't get the chance to celebrate small holidays together.
but we were lucky enough to have ryan's grandparents for fathers day this year.
it made the day extra special.
{and also made me miss my own grandfathers, who have both passed away.}
we spent the day picnicking up in the mountains.

{the boys at the top of the mountain. can you see them? they're small but they're there!!}

it was all lovely.
a lovely day.
a lovely location.
some really lovely company.
and even some lovely animal friends who we met along the way.

{ducklings actually crossing the street right in front of us!}

{we saw not just one but three moose!!}

{yes, we know we shouldn't have, but we fed him that nut he is eating anyways.}

I'm feeling both grateful and lucky.
grateful for stalwart fathers.
for hard working grandfathers.
and for all of our posterity, on both sides of our family.
as far as family trees are concerned, we really lucked out!

happy fathers day!

To: my dad

on fathers day i'm glad for countless memories of swimming, and hiking, and biking, and playing on the trampoline, and working in the yard, and gardening, and family home evening, and good talks and brilliant discussions . . . all with YOU!

To: my dad in law

on fathers day i'm grateful for the love, and support, and encouragement, and guidance, and hard work, and endless service, and great example -shared with my husband for so many years, and now with me- . . . all from YOU!

To: my husband

on fathers day i'm happy for bedtime stories, and tickle torture, and family vacations, and running through sprinklers, and sandwich hugs, and dancing in the kitchen with kids on our toes, and job charts, and themed picnics and adventures . . . all in the future, and all with YOU!

happy fathers day to the men in my life!
