a little art for a friday

kay, so like eons ago a had an afternoon with grandma. yes, this one.
my cousin showed us a few water color basics and let us try our hand at a wee exercise.
it wasn't anything to write home about.
not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination.
but for some reason i just haven't been able to part with it.
it's a sweet little reminder of a lovely afternoon with some of my favorite people.
and then this summer i found this carved frame.
and to my surprise, i found that they suited each other just perfectly.
at least i think they do.

and so i framed that little piece of practice art.
and it sits atop our growing library. (i.e., bookshelf)
and i'm starting to notice that when it comes to decor i don't really think pretty is enough.
i think your things should be meaningful and impactful in some way.
yep, just like my books i like to have history with my artwork.
(like these here & here.)
perhaps someday i'll take you on a tour of my in-house favorites.
